2018 Reflections

Good Day Everybody,

I just want to wish everybody a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. I hope next year brings you a lot of joy!! It's been a good year for me, and I've been reflecting on it! I got on the Calgary Transit Access Appeal Board. Both of my films made it to the "Picture This" Film Festival held in April. I created an app with the help of some really smart engineering and design students at the UofC. The whole process took about seven months and was made possible by TOM (Tikkun Olam Makers). I even did an interview for Universal Access!

I tried skiing and absolutely fell in love!! I'm going to get back at it in the beginning of 2019! Trying new things is so good for my soul. I want to keep pushing my comfort zone and having new adventures, it's the only way to keep living and growing. Would you expect anything different from me? I also tried sailing this year and discovered that it's not quite my cup of tea... it's a little boring, so I won't be returning to that activity. I want to do something WILD next year... if you have any ideas please let me know!! 

Something I learned this year is that I need to be more forward with my thoughts, ideas, and opinions. This is true in my relationships as well as my professional life. I'm sure 2019 will give me plenty of opportunities to do so. One of my ideas is to turn my book into a play and have one of my friends be a part of that process. I don't know what that will look like, but that's part of the fun.

Hi blog reader!!!

Happy New Year everybody! I hope that you all had a wonderful time with family and friends over the Christmas holidays.  Every ending has a new beginning! Let 2014 be an exciting beginning for all of you.
I started a writing course on January 7th.  It will improve my writing for blogging by teaching me how to manipulate words and get my point across.  Also, when I complete a piece of work, it is important for me to have the knowledge and skill to proof read.  I hope it will make me a better writer.
For the past 14 years I have been working on my life story by talking to a friend of mine. She told me that I have a story to share. So she helped me to get started with the first couple of paragraphs. It was up to me to listen to my friend and I started to write my life story living with Cerebral Palsy and what I have overcome in my life.  It is taking a long time and my writing is getting better.  I want to improve and be happy with my writing. Meanwhile, I practice with my blog.
This is a big goal for me, so I need to take it one step at a time.  The plan I have is to self-publish my book through my blog this year.  It is certainly a new beginning for me.  Have a great year and stay tuned.

Family Celebrations

I celebrate the basic holidays with my family like Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter, birthdays and weddings. There are several different kinds of celebrations around the world.  To name a few, there is Hanukkah, Chinese New Year, Diwali, Ramadan and St. Patrick's Day.  In Canada Christmas is a big deal.  Some families don't celebrate Christmas the traditional way with exchanging gifts but they still get together with family and friends to enjoy their company and food.  As my family grew our gift exchange routine changed a bit but the menu my mother prepares for all of us remains the same each year.  This is our way of being connected and sharing a happy time. 

I also enjoyed getting together with my family to celebrate my sisters’ weddings, the birth of their kids and everyone's birthdays.  We spend all the traditional holidays together as a family.  We also spend some unique times together celebrating.

It was Halloween last week and it was also one of my niece’s birthdays on the same day so we got together for supper to celebrate and then the kids got ready to go out with their costumes on for trick or treating.

I love to get together with my family and have these special times with them. Some families don't have any members of their family around or they live far way so they spend the holidays alone. It is very sad to see when someone doesn't have any family around to share and celebrate. Everyone needs to have love and support.  I am so lucky to have a wonderful and loving family to spend time celebrating life with no matter what day it is.  Having a special event just makes it lots of fun.
